SMM, June 6: According to market feedback, from May 30 to June 5, the weekly production of sample silicon plants in Xinjiang was 31,570 mt, with a weekly operating rate of 65%, up 9 percentage points WoW. The continued increase in Xinjiang's operating rate was mainly due to the production release from previous production resumptions. Currently, the production release has concluded, and existing production is basically stable. Next week, the operating rate of silicon enterprises in Xinjiang is expected to be largely stable.

The weekly production of sample silicon enterprises in north-west China was 10,760 mt, with a weekly operating rate of 75%, showing slight fluctuations WoW. The statistical scope for north-west China includes Qinghai, Ningxia, and Gansu. The smelting process for 33000KVA furnace types has become increasingly sophisticated, with actual capacity and daily production significantly increasing compared to the previous period.

The weekly production of sample silicon enterprises in Yunnan was 1,360 mt, with a weekly operating rate of 12%, showing a slight increase WoW. The increase in Yunnan's weekly production was mainly due to the capacity ramp-up of newly commissioned facilities, with only a few silicon enterprises currently in operation locally.

The weekly production of sample silicon enterprises in Sichuan was 4,460 mt, with a weekly operating rate of 38%.This week, a new sample silicon enterprise was added in Sichuan. This sample silicon enterprise commenced production at the end of 2024 and rapidly increased its production in April-May this year. With a large scale, it accounts for a relatively high proportion of Sichuan's capacity, resulting in the region's sample operating rate being higher than the regional average. Sichuan has now officially entered the rainy season, with over 30 furnaces in operation across the region, and the regional operating rate, calculated based on the number of furnaces, is around 24%.

Before the holiday, the black chain is unlikely to see a trend-driven market [SMM Steel Industry Chain Weekly Report].
This week, ferrous metals were in the doldrums, with coking coal and coke staging a mid-week rise. At the beginning of the week, financial markets experienced sharp fluctuations, dragging down sentiment in the ferrous chain and leading to a pullback in futures. Mid-week, Indonesia's cut to coke production quotas drove coking coal and coke futures to lead the gains, though the impact was more pronounced on thermal coal, while coking coal's rise was largely sentiment-driven and short-lived. In the latter part of the week, finished products continued their seasonal inventory buildup, and support from the raw material side weakened, causing the entire ferrous chain to pull back. In the spot market, with the Chinese New Year holiday approaching, purchasing activity slowed down further, with end-users only making limited, as-needed purchases at low prices.
